Homelearning

Thanks for the flying words... we discussed as a team how important it was for the children to have input into the words they use for writing, and to also display their own words so they remember them and use them in writing.   We will write about flying next week using their display on the word wall!

Delicious cultural food!

Thank you so much to Beau (and his mum) for the delicious Welsh cakes they made and Beau bought to school, they were scrumptious.
As we are talking about culture Beau had a clever idea to show us what food from his culture was like.... I didn't think of taking a picture, but they looked like this!

The very next day Nathan turns up to school with a delicious container of freshly cooked stir fried rice.... Thank you to his grandparents who made it, you're awesome!
Everyone wanted seconds of both cultural dishes!

Phonics - long e sound

For phonics we were looking at the long 'e' sound.  The children had 3 minutes to write all the words with the long 'e' sound in.  They then used the 'give one, get one' collaborative activity; walking around and giving one to a buddy and receiving one they didn't have.  They did so well, they thought of all the spelling patterns!

Learning Pathways completed...our thoughts

We enjoyed testing the tug of straw and making the prizes and the game, it was easy and fun to make.

We enjoyed making all the decorations for the playhouse because it was easy and fun, We were making stuff to use inside the playhouse instead of making something for the playground.  One morning tea we went and had a look in the playhouse so we knew what to make.

We liked how we worked together and how our drawings went for copying the cards.

I liked building the hut because Brandon was helping me (Ashton).
I liked making things with Nathan, we made a container (Beau).

We liked the way we worked together without fussing (Charlie).
I liked it when I built my armour. (Dylan).
I liked doing the mine craft because everything stayed together (Nicholas).
The people went really well in mine craft, we need to work out how to make the heads stand up (George).

I enjoyed the way we worked together, we were a good team. I also enjoyed taking the ink out of the pens, even Caleb enjoyed it.

Will comment tomorrow :)

Learning pathways

For learning pathways the children have looked at games they would like to play in the playground.  They are now in the process of making them.  After making them we will reflect on how well each group did and what they would change next time.   These are very important skills for life.
I have videoed the groups discussing what they are making, a few children are not with their group, they were away or at phonics.

Poetry recital

Room 7 enjoyed listening to all the children who presented their poems to the class!  From the presented poems, Georgia and Caleb were chosen to perform their poem at the poetry recital... well done to both of them for a job well done!

Measuring and high jumps

We went outside for high jumping.  We thought about how high a metre was and how big a centimetre was (as big as the width of our finger).  We then jumped, working out how high we could jump!

We checked out DaVinci's exhibit's and rode the tram....
